So I went to D1 today to get an evaluation on my pitching by former all star mlb pitcher Kent Bottenfield. Probably the most nervous/intimidating pitching experience I have ever pitched under. I have always been an accurate pitcher but was inaccurate today to say the least. I am not ready to give up just yet, Kent gave me a couple tips to help me with my accuracy. I didn't have a catcher, but I will on Tuesday.
I am hoping I can be more accurate this next time. It was just crazy to think that this man has basically played in every mlb stadium and pitched in the mlb all star game. Not many people can say that. I was encouraged to know that I have the speed to play college baseball...I thought I did, but accuracy was surprisingly terrible today. Maybe it was just a bad day. My nerves need to just chill out.
I was going to come back to Oxford,Ms tomorrow, but I am going to meet with Kent again on Tuesday and I will head up to Oxford most likely after I meet with him in the morning.
If I have another bad performance I guess I will just have to hang up the cleats, I surprised myself with my inaccuracy though. It will be interesting to see how I do with a catcher on Tuesday.
Its worth a shot...and its a long shot if I can get control of my accuracy to even make the team as a senior left handed pitcher. Being left handed helps though...but walking on as a senior thats another story although I would have two years of eligibility.
Going to all the Ole Miss baseball games yesterday just made me want to be out there. I guess I have the Favre disease but just in baseball. My body can only take me as far as it will left me. God gives people different amounts of ability in different things. Some people can throw harder than others and there is no explanation for it.
Worth a shot, it would be a dream to play college baseball...I know I would have maken the team at MTSU or alot of colleges coming out of high school, but SEC ball I was too small for at the time!
Kent threw in the high 90s when he pitched and said I was throwing about 85..I didn't think I was throwing as hard as I could, but more concerned about my accuracy which was definately the problem.
Giving it a go!
