Susan Haskins, an ole miss junior died in a sudden auto accident yesterday morning around 2 in the morning where the truck she was riding in flipped over a bridge and she drowned. I did not know this girl, I have several friends that did and from what I have heard she was one of the sweetest girls they knew. Absolutely terrible story and to make it worse for this family..her parents lost their son about 10 years ago in a very similar accident.
I feel like I knew Susan and by looking at her pictures I know I have seen her before. My heart aches for this family. To have to go through this once is hard enough, but a second time ten years later...I can't even fathom the agony they are feeling.
How and why does this happen and twice to the same family?
All I can say is God is not just sometimes sovereign..He is always sovereign. He is always in control. I think of the story of Job in this tragedy. Job questioned God when he lost his family and just look at God's response starting in Job Chapter 38-42.
G.K. Chesterton once said The riddles of God are more satisfying than the solutions of man.
God never fails. Some things are not for our understanding. One day we will have answers to all our unanswerable questions.
All I know is that Susan's breath and short life has been cut short for unknown reasons and her breath remains taken away right now because she is in heaven standing in awe being in presence of God for the first time. What a sight to think about. The lamb of God so bright there is no need for the sun anymore. Life is good here, but we often are blinded by this life on earth and the things of earth and forget what we are living for and forget how unbelievable heaven is and is going to be. Susan is experiencing that right now.
No one knows why this has happened, but although I didn't know Susan her life has changed mine in several ways. I have almost been killed twice in a car accident, I am honestly more nervous than before as I travel back to Oxford as I was almost killed by an 18 wheeler two weeks ago. God is not done with me yet and I am going to use this for his glory. Its amazing to see how many lives Susan changed and impacted while she was here.
"I think that we should never take one single day, friend, laugh, or breath for granted. We do not know when it could be taken away from us. Life is too short so share all the happiness and love you have and always always live well, laugh often, and love much. All in all, life is beautiful, i love every minute of it, and wouldn't change a thing."-Susan Haskins
Lives have been changed and are being changed because of the way Susan lived her life.
Draw close to God and always be ready because you never know when God is going to let you see him face to face. Tell your friends and family how much they mean to you every day.
Its my regret I didn't get the chance to know Susan, but I will one day.
